Philipine & Joel Beauregard are the new owners of Sunny Bluffs Chalets, in beautiful Kaslo, British Columbia, Canada.

About us: We were working for the same company when we first met, ten years ago in Banff. Joel was a mechanic and I was working in the bus wash. I had been living in New Denver (which is not so far from Kaslo) for many years previously, and had come to know and love the Kootenays. Joel and I had it in our minds to find a property in the Kootenays in which we could invest. One day, while visiting Kaslo, I was looking at the real estate postings…mostly out of curiosity. I saw an ad for this fixer upper resort. I immediately phoned Joel at work to tell him about it. After a few visits we decided to go for this adventure, and it became our project.

Together we have embarked upon a great adventure! We are fixing and upgrading the chalets ourselves, and though the job is bigger then we originally envisioned, it is also very satisfying to see the progress we have made this far. We are committed to doing a thorough job, and though the accommodations are very comfortable now, we’ll continue to tweet and fiddle with the details… until they are just right.

We are very satisfied with our progress and the feedback that we have received from our visitors over this past summer. Our beautiful and cozy small vacation resort is just a five minute stroll to the stunning Kaslo Bay Park, a sheltered horseshoe-shaped beach on Kootenay Lake. Kaslo Bay is also the home of the annual Kaslo Jazz Etc Music Festival, which takes place on the first weekend in August. The beach in Kaslo Bay is much loved by locals and visitors as the water is slightly warmer here than at the public beach near the SS Moyie sternwheeler on Front Street.

The Village commercial district is just on the other side of this park and the marina. All in all maybe a 10 minute walk and you are right down town.
